1860s Victorian 10ct gold, black enamel and oval garnet mourning ring, size Q

  
Beautiful mourning ring featuring a facetted dark red garnet that glints a wonderful red when it catches the light. Featuring decorative engraving and black enamelwork on the shoulders, please see pictures. Finger size'Q', this piece is made from 10ct gold yellow gold. It is not hallmarked but I took it to the bullion house where they used their X-ray fluorescence gun to test it not invasive like acids and accurate! The ring weighs 2.62g. A good example of a Victorian mourning ring, it is rather lovely - the gold is a rich warm colour and the garnet exhibits a beautiful burgundy glint when worn and the facets catch the light.
