The inscription is on a tiny hinged compartment which unfortunately is bent up. If you wear the ring you can feel the edge of this hinged lid poking into your finger. The hinge is stuck fast and someone has tried their best to open it and has bent the gold lid. I'm assuming this once had some of Alice's hair inside which might be why the hinge is stuck.
I personally do NOT want to force it open as I think it will bend the hinged top lid and spoil it. No maker's marks and no metal marks. Even with this slight bend on the inner lid of the secret compartment this is a very nice antique mourning ring which will look well in any collection.
It looks like it could have been re-sized a couple of times. It is UK size M and a half. Please see photographs provided for more details and visual confirmation of condition. As mentioned, the hinged part inside is damaged. The enamelling on the outside is also damaged and has a few chips and surface scuffs. The ring itself is also bent slightly out of shape. 19m in diameter and approx. My stock ref : in mourning jewellery cabinet.
