This is a wonderful pair of 18ct yellow gold mourning rings from the Georgian era. One of the rings features black enamel and the other white. The white enamel indicates that the person who has died is unmarried and the black indicates that they were married.

This leads us to believe that these were 2 different people, most likely twins who died tragically on the same day. It is incredibly rare to find a matching pair of mourning rings especially sitting in a perfectly fitted antique ring box. The band of the black ring features the words Rob Overman Died 8 June 1808 Aged 56 and the band of the white ring features the words Bob Overman Died 8 June 1808 Aged 56. It is impossible to be exactly sure of the provenance but we love the fact that they are a set and believe they would be an amazing addition to any antique jewellery collection. The inside of both of the rings are hallmarked to the early 1800s but on different years which adds another element to the equation.
