Georgian Gold, onyx, enamel & split pearl mourning brooch inscribed & hair lock
This is a fine example of a Victorian mourning brooch in good overall condition. The mount has been tested to be Gold by a jeweler. It is set with a cluster of seed pearls in a Gold star surmounted by an oval onyx background. This is surrounded by a ring of enamel with pique Gold design. The back has a compartment with a lock of hair and on the border is engraved In memory of M. It is approx 3.8cm wide and weighs approx 15.3 grams. It has had a later safety chain attached.
