Lanvin Paris signed vintage 1970s gold-plated black enamel pendant necklace

  

Beautiful little pendant necklace from Lanvin Paris made in the 1970s, very much of its era and a genuinely rare find. This lovely necklace is the height of sophisticated simplicity and looks good with anything. The pendant is a good weight and nicely balanced with the chain.

The geometric shape of the pendant consists of two over-lapping, different sized squares - each outlined with a thick gold edge and infilled with glossy black enamel. The fine gold-plated snake chain is 38.0 cm long and original to the piece. This style of semi-rigid chain is tightly woven and impossible to tangle.

It is smooth and sleek to match the pendant and closes with a secure spring-ring clasp. I have seen a Lanvin brooch in a similar style but never a pendant.

The piece is in excellent condition. T he House of Lanvin is the oldest and longest running French luxury fashion house which is still in business today.

It was founded in 1889 by a woman - Jeanne Lanvin - and later inherited by her daughter. The social history of Lanvin is fascinating but, like other fashion houses the jewellery was originally created purely to sell the clothes.
