Unusual 1875 Antique Mourning Ring Victorian Black Enamel & Pearl Gold Jewelry

  
This unusual mourning ring features a head of mostly black enamel set with tiny seed pearls of varying sizes arranged in a floral pattern, surrounded by tiny threads of gold. It may have been in remembrance of a child or young woman, with seed pearls representing tears.

The ring is a size 8 and is not sizeable. It is missing the hair that would have originally been woven through the band.

There is a hallmark FW? That assay marks for Birmingham in what appears to be 1875. It is marked for 9k gold.

The structural integrity of the ring is good, but it is missing enamel on each side of the head and the enamel that is present is chipped. The ring weighs 1.93g and the head measures 10.2mm.
