Chester assayed, hallmarked 1889, with makers mark (too rubbed to decipher). The ring has a curved black enamel rectangular front with gold lettering IN. The remainder of the ring band contains woven brunette hair, belonging to the deceased person. Inside the ring band is some hand engraving which reads DIED 22nd AUGUST 1889. Approx ring size: UK P 1/2 US 8.
In good condition for age; there is some enamel loss around the letters A. L which could no doubt be discreetly touched up if desired; hair weaving in good condition with only a few stray hairs to one side. A wonderful mourning ring; having an actual name on the enamelling, a hand inscribed date of death inside, complete hair, the prized Chester hallmark and its original period ring box!
